What is a portable hand-wash station?
A portable hand-wash station is a free-standing sink unit with two basins, foot pumps, soap and paper towels. A fresh-water tank feeds the basins, and used water drains to a separate gray-water tank. No hose or power is needed, so the station can sit anywhere a porta potty can.

When do you need a hand-wash station?
You need a hand-wash station when food or drinks are served, when crews handle concrete, paint or chemicals, and anywhere a permit or inspector asks for running water. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(f) requires washing facilities on construction sites where workers apply paints or other contaminants. Our recommendation is 1 station for every 5 porta potties at food events.
| Setting | Stations |
|---|---|
| Party or picnic with food, up to 5 units | 1 |
| Festival or fair, 6–10 units | 2 |
| Job site, crew under 20 | 1 |
| Food truck or vendor row | 1 per 2–3 vendors |
How is a hand-wash station serviced?
A hand-wash station is serviced by draining the gray-water tank, refilling the fresh-water tank, wiping both basins and restocking soap and towels. Event stations arrive full and usually last the whole day. Job-site stations are serviced on the same weekly visit as the porta potty.

Hand-wash stations rental questions
How much water does a hand-wash station hold?
Our two-sink station holds 22 gallons of fresh water. The manufacturer rates it at nearly 350 hand washes before refilling.
Can I rent a hand-wash station without a porta potty?
Hand-wash stations rent on their own for food booths, farm stands and job sites. Delivery is cheaper when the station rides with a porta potty on the same trip.
Does the hand-wash station need a hose?
The station needs no hose and no electricity. We fill it at the yard and refill it at each service visit.
Is hand sanitizer enough for a job site?
Hand sanitizer is enough for many job sites. Crews working with paint, concrete, lead or other contaminants need running water under OSHA 1926.51(f). Ask dispatch if you are unsure.
Do you supply soap and paper towels?
Every station arrives with soap and paper towels. Both are restocked at each service visit, and extra supplies can be left on site on request.
